Woods

The word “lumber” often refers to solid wood, which can be milled from a tree, as opposed to be manufactured (e.g., plywood). There are basically two kinds of solid wood: softwood and hardwood. Hardwood comes from a deciduous tree, such as oak or maple. Softwood comes from a conifer tree, such as pine. The differences between these trees is their physical hardness. All wood is susceptible to expansion and contraction and can change their dimensions in response to changes to in humidity, temperature, and other factors. We can help you select the proper wood for your application.
