Composites

Composites are plastics that are strengthened through the addition of fibers, fillers, particulates, powders and/or other matrix reinforcements to provide improved strength, stiffness, or thermal properties. Fibers are usually wound or woven and made of materials such as fabric, metal, glass, or fiberglass. Particulates vary in terms of shape, size and composition. Powders are often made of carbon, graphite, silicates, ceramics, and other organic or inorganic materials. Thermoplastic composites are relatively advanced weave-reinforced derivatives, low-density composites, and composite panels. Such materials can often be compression molded.
